After the talk I followed yesterday about Rootkits as Reversing Tools at the 23c3 I’ve talked with the guy that gave that talk. I offered him hosting space for the vmware images he used to deliver this talk, so by clicking on the “anon talks” link on the left or following this link you’ll be taken to the download page for that.

The third day at the 23c3. I love it here. We’re in the Berliner Congress Centre, which is located on the Alexanderplatz, a really big shopping center here in berlin. What a change if you compare it to for instance the WhatTheHack. Before the WTH was organized, the local government tried to stop it, since they were afraid that the “staatsgevaarlijke anarchisten” as we were affectionately called, would go on a mayhem and rampage tour around the internet. Over here, the hackers just blend in with the crowd.

Second, where the WTH was mostly about technical stuff (and it had a really technical atmosphere hanging around it), this conference is mostly about activism and that’s what you feel everywhere you poke your nose in.

So for those that are reading this blog and wondering if you’re missing something, yes, you are missing something

Today I’ve made my NTP server running on ntp.r3blog.org available to the public. It’s configured with geographically dispersed hosts using as much different hardware clocks as possible (6 distinct ones at the moment). The server has been added to the pool.ntp.org cluster, so more people can use this. This actually has the nice side-effect of actually causing xntpd to do something and eat some cpu (1% at max from what I’ve seen, but it’s way more then (almost) nothing at all) ).
